Got Salaried-Exempt Employees? Legal Alert!

In July 2024, a new Department of Labor law went into effect which increased the minimum salary amount for exempt-salaried workers (from $35,568 to $43,888 per year). Another increase (to $58,656 per year) was expected on January 1, 2025 and then again every three years. 

WAIT! On November 15, 2024 The DOL law was overturned in court! For now, the new salary exemption increase has been blocked (the July 2024 amount too). So as of today, the salary minimum is back at $35,568. Learn more about Highly Compensated as well, at my website blog. It is unlikely any minimum salary amount changes will get pushed through under the new federal government administration (but we shall wait and see).
